Dahl BMW in Sale of the Unexpected

Famous author’s 7 Series at Brooklands auction in September.

Roald Dahl’s BMW 732i is being offered at auction by Historics At Brooklands on September 25, with 20% of the profits generated going to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

Dahl originally bought the BMW new from a dealership in High Wycombe, Bucks in 1982. Though not a ‘giant peach’, the car has completed over 100,000 miles and is described as good throughout.

The ‘big friendly giant’ BMW is for sale at no reserve. All monies donated to the charity can help towards providing nurses, carers, equipment and toys, designed to improve the lives of seriously ill children in the UK.

Commenting on the forthcoming sale, Historics Auction Director Edward Bridger-Stille said: “Our gratitude must go to the current vendor, who like us, recognises this fantastic opportunity to support a marvellous charity.  Roald Dahl’s stories made an indelible contribution to the bedtimes of many millions of children and we are delighted to play our own small part in paying thanks.”

Interested parties can arrange to view the car prior to the auction, when it appears at a garden opening at Gipsy House – Roald Dahl’s former home – in Great Missenden on 12 September, as part of the Roald Dahl Day celebrations the following day.

For more information, and to attend the Historics At Brooklands auction on the afternoon of September 25, call 0800 988 3838, e-mail auctions@historics.co.uk, or see the website www.historics.co.uk.  Entry by catalogue only, available prior to or on the day of the auction.
